The Carpáthia Express
train system is a new product in the Central European Rail
Transportation market. The product emerged as a result of
joint efforts of České dráhy (Czech Railways) and other participating
enterprises, including private companies, conducting business
in the sphere of rail transportation in the Czech Republic,
as well as their counterparts in Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.
The objective of this international project is to improve
customer services by establishing an international direct
freight train line between the CR and RO, the use of which
would significantly cut delivery time limits and improve the
cost-effectiveness of operating freight wagons designated
for international transport. The end effect should be better
competitiveness of rail transport to/from southeastern Europe.
The Carpáthia Express booking system ensures the highest
level of neutrality for the customers, along with a price
policy that provides for a very favorable price climate and
adequate protection. The business policy is focused so that
it helps achieve the highest level of neutrality and data
protection at maximum exploitation of capacities and rail
transport conditions, thus leading to quality improvement
and higher competitiveness of the product. The number of trains
alone testifies to the project's undeniable success.
The first Carpáthia Express was dispatched from Havlíčkův
Brod on 12 April 2003, followed by 102 trains until the end
of the year. Over the first four months of 2004, there were
100 "Carpáthians" in all, i.e., more than twice
as many as in 2003. Shipments are followed up from the point
of dispatching to lading into the wagons of the Carpáthian
train.
Shipments are followed up (monitored) by a dispatch clerk
from the point of their submission for transportation up to
their loading on board the Carpathian train. The transportation
is ordered at dispatch centres via a sophisticated dispatch
collection system that minimises delivery times, which, in
turn, reduces railway wagons days circulation ratio. All this
results in higher availability of wagons to customers.
